The purpose of the study is to determine the role of the Multiple Representation (MRs)-based STEM approach in improving critical thinking and physics problem-solving abilities in terms of the learning styles of high school students in Lampung Province, Indonesia. the static group pretest-final score design was used in this study. Research population was senior high schools in Lampung province. Samples were taken with cluster random sampling containing of 4 classrooms from 2 senior high schools in Lampung province. Physics problem solving ability data were obtained from Savage & William model essay test and critical thinking test according to Ennis and each of them contained of 10 questions respectively. Critical thinking and problem solving data were analyzed inferentially by using SPSS 26 software, while qualitative data obtained from questionnaires and observation sheets were tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The results of the study indicate that MRs-based STEM learning could improve physics critical thinking and problem solving abilities of senior high school students in Lampung province and it was indicated by n-gain differences of physics critical thinking and problem solving abilities between experimental and control classrooms (sign. (2-tailed) < 0.05). There was no difference between auditory and visual learning styles (sign. (2-tailed) > 0.05) both in critical thinking and problem solving abilities in both experimental and control classrooms. There were significant differences between kinesthetic and visual; and between kinesthetic and auditory (sign. 2-tailed) > 0.05). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
