Potential fish resources analysis is important to monitor and control the exploitation level of fish resources to prevent overfishing and potential extinction of certain fish species. This research aimed to produce a strategy for sustainable anchovy (Stolephorus spp.) management in the waters of Batam, Indonesia through an analysis of the utilization rate, catching season index (IMP), and profits of anchovy catching business. Data collection was done by census method. This research used primary and secondary data variables. Primary data is on anchovy catches and secondary data is on production series and number of trips for anchovy fishing vessels for seven years (2015 – 2021). The MSY analysis result obtained a maximum number of catches (CMSY) of 551,042 kg/year with a maximum number of attempts (EMSY) of 9,583 trips/year with a yield per effort (CPUE) of 38.03 kg/year/unit. The anchovy catch rate showed a decline. The highest utilization rate in 2017 was 107.05 % and the lowest in 2021 was 66.15 %, while the highest utilization rate was in 2021 at 158.1% and the lowest was in 2015 at 52.6 %. The fishing season index (IMP) for anchovy in Batam with an IMP value <100 lasted for seven months (May – November). The business profit calculation result showed that anchovy boats with onboard processing are more profitable by 32.67% or Rp. 955,455/vessel/month compared to vessels without. Managing anchovy resources in Batam needs to take concrete actions from authorities and community participation in supporting policies for the management and conservation of anchovy resources in Batam.
