Abstrakt: The article is an obituary for Prof. Dr. med. Eberhard Ritz, a renowned nephrologist who passed away in Heidelberg, Germany in October 2023 at the age of 85. Ritz was known for his contributions to dialysis technology and the understanding of renal failure. He was a popular lecturer and a skilled moderator in scientific discussions.
