Abstrakt: A recent report from Deakin University discusses the use of system dynamics approaches to understand public health issues from a community perspective. The researchers applied Social Network Analysis (SNA) methods to combine multiple causal loop diagrams (CLDs) created by local communities into a summary CLD. This allowed them to identify common drivers of the health and wellbeing of children and young people across 13 local government areas. The study found that mental health and social connection & support were the variables with the highest net importance in influencing the system. The researchers concluded that combining large CLDs into a simple diagram can provide a generalizable model of the drivers of complex health problems. [Extracted from the article]
