Abstrakt: Researchers at Yokohama University of Pharmacy in Japan have conducted a study on the effects of ovariectomy, or the surgical removal of the ovaries, in mice. The study focused on the use of Sparassis crispa, an edible mushroom, to reduce body weight and fat gain in ovariectomized mice. The researchers found that administering the fruiting body powder of S. crispa to the mice significantly blocked the increases in body weight, fat ratio, and glucose levels caused by ovariectomy. The treatment also increased levels of adiponectin and leptin in adipose tissue, suggesting that S. crispa may improve lipid abnormalities resulting from reduced ovarian function.
