A recent study conducted by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital explored the relationship between gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and eating disorders. The study found that GI disorders are common among patients with eating disorders, with functional/motility disorders being the most prevalent. The majority of patients with eating disorders experienced symptoms before seeking GI consultation. Additionally, the study revealed that almost half of the patients were not in remission at the time of the GI consult. The researchers concluded that further research is needed to better understand the complex relationship between eating disorders and GI symptoms. [Extracted from the article] |
