A new report from the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center discusses the issue of malnutrition among pancreatic cancer patients. The report highlights that fewer than a quarter of these patients receive medical nutrition therapy (MNT), which is crucial for improving their nutritional status, weight maintenance, quality of life, and survival. To address this issue, the researchers propose a 12-week digital health intervention called Support Through Remote Observation and Nutrition Guidance (STRONG). The intervention aims to expand access to MNT through system-level, provider-level, and patient-level strategies. The study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention, as well as collect preliminary data on outcomes such as malnutrition, quality of life, treatment outcomes, and survival.
