A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) has examined the progression of non-neovascular fluid in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The study included ten eyes of nine patients with intermediate AMD and subretinal fluid (SRF). The findings suggest that an observe-and-extend regimen may be considered for AMD eyes with non-neovascular fluid. The researchers also highlight the importance of distinguishing between neovascular and non-neovascular fluid using multimodal imaging to avoid unnecessary anti-VEGF therapy.
