A study conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital in Ningbo, China compared the safety and efficacy of two different liquid-based materials, indocyanine green (IG) and blue-stained glue (BSG), for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). The study found that both IG and BSG achieved 100% technical success rates for localization, with no significant differences in duration or patient-reported pain scores. The incidence of complications such as pneumothorax and pulmonary hemorrhage was similar between the two groups. Additionally, IG was found to be less expensive than BSG. The study concluded that both IG and BSG offer high levels of clinical safety and efficacy for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules. [Extracted from the article] |
