A recent case report from Odisha, India describes the unusual presentation of primary anti-phospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) as acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in a 32-year-old female patient. The patient presented with angina and an electrocardiogram (ECG) showed extensive anterior wall-ST elevation myocardial infarction (MI). She was treated with thrombolytic therapy and standard treatment for ACS. Further investigations revealed a history of recurrent pregnancy loss and positive lupus anticoagulant. Coronary angiography showed a stenosis in the left main shaft with a thrombus-containing ulcerative lesion. The patient was managed conservatively with medication. This case highlights the importance of considering APS as a potential cause of ACS in young patients. [Extracted from the article] |
