A study conducted at the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo examined the impact of prenatal exposure to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on obesity risks in males and females throughout adolescence. Pregnant rats were exposed to different doses of THC, and the offspring were given either a high-fat diet or a normal diet. The study found that prenatal THC exposure had dose-dependent effects on maternal weight gain, birth weight, and activity levels in the offspring. These findings suggest that prenatal THC exposure may be related to obesity risks later in life. [Extracted from the article] |
