Abstrakt: This article explores the experiences of Australian women in establishing breastfeeding after caesarean birth. The study found that caesarean birth is associated with suboptimal breastfeeding outcomes, potentially due to factors such as post-operative pain and reduced mobility. The study also identified themes related to breastfeeding establishment, including experiences of clinical care, maternal expectations, and difficulty in picking up the baby. The authors suggest that physical support for accessing the baby and consistent clinical lactation support are important in the days following caesarean birth. They also propose involving partners in breastfeeding education and extending their visiting hours to improve breastfeeding support. [Extracted from the article]
