Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Montreal examined the use of endotracheal tubes (ETTs) in neonatal intubation. The study found that downsizing the ETT to a smaller size within seven days of intubation was common, particularly in infants weighing between 1000 and 1199 grams and 2000 and 2199 grams. The use of ETTs that were 0.5 mm smaller than the recommended size was associated with fewer adverse events and rarely required upsizing. This research provides valuable insights into improving the selection of ETT sizes for neonatal intubation. [Extracted from the article] |
