Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, India, focused on giant cell tumors of the tendon sheath (GCTTS) of the hand. GCTTS is the second most common benign tumor of the hand after ganglion cysts and is known for its high rate of recurrence. The study aimed to evaluate the long-term results of 48 patients who underwent surgery for GCTTS and identify any correlation between proposed risk factors and recurrence. The research found that the presence of satellite nodules and proximity to interphalangeal joints were significant risk factors for recurrence. The study suggests that magnification during surgery can help ensure complete excision of the tumor and reduce the chance of recurrence. [Extracted from the article]
