A study conducted at Shandong Provincial Hospital in China aimed to investigate the prevalence and contributing factors of social alienation among elderly patients undergoing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. The study included 245 elderly patients and used various questionnaires to assess their social alienation, social support, anxiety, and other factors. The results showed that social alienation was associated with factors such as educational level, age, urinary incontinence, social support, anxiety, and disease stigma. The researchers concluded that healthcare providers should actively monitor social alienation in elderly patients after surgery and provide appropriate psychological care to facilitate positive social reintegration.
