Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by the University of Kentucky explores the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, prescription opioid use, and the co-use of other substances. The study used a daily monitoring design to examine how fluctuations in PTSD symptoms predicted patterns of prescription opioid use and co-use of other substances. The findings suggest that higher levels of PTSD symptoms were associated with an increased likelihood of nonmedical prescription opioid use on the same day. The study also highlights the importance of examining polysubstance use patterns among individuals with PTSD who use prescription opioids. [Extracted from the article] |
