Abstrakt: A systematic review conducted by researchers from Michigan State University aimed to summarize the mental health treatment literature for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) who have criminal legal involvement. The review identified 13 eligible studies that tested interventions categorized as cognitive/behavioral, community-based, interpersonal, psychoeducational, or court-based. The findings suggest that interventions utilizing interpersonal interventions reported clinically significant improvements in mental health symptoms and were feasible and acceptable. However, the researchers emphasize the need for more mental health research in this population, particularly studies with randomized designs, larger sample sizes, and the utilization of non-clinicians.
