A recent study conducted by researchers at NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, explores the neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury, and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The study highlights the dysregulated neuroimmune and inflammatory responses associated with these disorders, including the release of proinflammatory cytokines and infiltration of peripheral immune cells into the brain. The researchers also discuss the use of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived brain cells for drug discovery in these disorders. The study concludes that there are currently no effective disease-modifying therapeutic options available for these diseases. [Extracted from the article] |
