Abstrakt: A recent report from Nara Medical University discusses the case of a 48-year-old man with vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS) who experienced a ruptured dissected splenic artery aneurysm after sigmoid colon perforation. The patient underwent emergency surgery and a Hartmann's procedure was performed. However, on the ninth postoperative day, the patient developed sudden upper abdominal pain due to an intra-abdominal hemorrhage caused by the rupture of a dissecting splenic artery aneurysm. Urgent transcatheter arterial embolization was performed to save the patient's life. The research emphasizes the importance of careful post-operative management and collaboration with interventional radiologists for prompt treatment of vascular complications in vEDS patients.
