A recent study conducted by Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa aimed to identify the triggering factors for familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) attacks and analyze their relationship with the Mediterranean fever gene mutation status. The study found that psychological stress was the most frequent triggering factor for FMF attacks, followed by cold exposure and humidity. The research suggests that identifying these trigger factors can lead to better preventive measures and personalized therapies to decrease FMF attacks. Managing psychological stress and avoiding physical factors such as cold exposure and fatigue can significantly reduce the number of FMF attacks experienced by patients.
