A recent study conducted by researchers from Emory University explores the perspectives of therapists on the barriers to and facilitators of access to telemental health services among Medicaid-enrolled youth. The study found that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the risk of poor mental health outcomes among low-income youth and has led to a shift towards telehealth services. The therapists identified digital access, including hardware, software, connectivity, and technological literacy, as crucial components for successful telehealth implementation. The study emphasizes the need for flexible reimbursement policies that allow providers to offer both in-person and telehealth services based on the preferences and needs of youth and their families.
