Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Fundacion Valle del Lili in Cali, Colombia, has found that ALPPS hepatectomy can be a viable alternative to liver transplantation for patients with centrally located PRETEXT III or II hepatoblastomas. Hepatoblastoma is the most common malignant primary liver tumor in children, but surgical resection is only possible in a small percentage of cases. The ALPPS procedure, which induces therapeutic hypertrophy of healthy tissue, allows for larger resections and has shown successful outcomes in pediatric patients. This alternative treatment option can reduce the need for liver transplantation, which is associated with high costs and limited availability. [Extracted from the article]
