This article, published in the British Journal of Dermatology, discusses a case of furuncular myiasis caused by Dermatobia hominis in a 27-year-old man who had recently returned from the Amazon. The patient presented with a furuncle-like nodule in the temporal region that had a sensation of movement. Dermoscopy revealed a central opening with a creamy-white body surrounded by dilated vessels, and the larva had bird's-feet-like structures representing the breathing spiracles. The article highlights the value of entodermoscopy as a noninvasive tool for diagnosing this tropical parasitosis. [Extracted from the article] |
