One of the important and urgent problems of the teaching methodology of any discipline in a higher education institution is the effective organization and conduct of identifying the objective level of knowledge, abilities and skills that students acquire in the process of studying a discipline. Today, higher education institutions use a lot of knowledge testing and assessment methods, including computer testing, but in the vast majority of cases they are considered independently of each other, but since they are used for the same purpose, they should be used in conjunction. Therefore, a unified system of knowledge verification and evaluation methods is necessary and, of course, for each area of knowledge, with its own specificity. In this regard, the staff of the Department of Materials Science and New Technologies of Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpattia National University has gained some experience in recent years. And on its basis, the article attempts to share its own vision of how the control of knowledge, abilities and skills of students studying in physical specialties of higher education institutions should be organized at the modern level.
