Abstrakt: This article discusses the prognostic value of growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) in patients with acute chest pain. The study found that high GDF-15 concentrations at 3 months were associated with long-term mortality and cardiovascular events, independent of traditional risk factors and troponin T. Another study examined the association between GDF-15 concentration and cardiovascular events in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), finding that higher concentrations were associated with an increased risk of death and cardiovascular events. A separate study found that GDF-15 concentrations at 3 months after admission can independently predict death and cardiovascular events, regardless of traditional risk factors and baseline hs-cTnT levels. The studies suggest that measuring GDF-15 can provide prognostic information and aid in risk stratification for patients with acute chest pain. However, further studies and validation are needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article]
