Students taking biology often face difficulty in remembering facts and uncommon terminologies. One of the biology topics that contain a lot of facts and terminologies is Floral Morphology. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop the Floral Probe multimedia kit for the Floral Morphology topic in the Plant Structure and Organization course and to study the usability of the multimedia kit. This study applied the developmental research design where the multimedia kit development was done based on the ADDIE Model. Convenience sampling method was used and the samples were 44 biology students of the Plant Structure and Organization course at Sultan Idris Education University. The survey used a questionnaire form that contained 13 items with a 4-points Likert scale measurement. The percentage values of agreement obtained based on the validation of the Floral Probe multimedia kit by three experts were very high (face validity=82.74%; content validity=83.33%). Furthermore, both face and content validity of the questionnaire form also obtained very good agreement percentage values with 83.33% and 90.00%, respectively. In addition, the reliability of the questionnaire form obtained from the pilot study also showed a very high value of 0.931 based on Cronbach's Alpha analysis using IBM Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 26.0. The multimedia kit had high usability (n=44, mean score = 3.58, SD=0.497) with a high consensus among respondents. These results showed that the Floral Probe multimedia kit has the potentials to help students remembering facts and terminologies in the Floral Morphology topic. Thus, future studies should investigate the effectiveness of this kit to understand these potentials better. In the larger context of biology education, such findings will help educators to use appropriate teaching innovations for topics that require lots of memorization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
