Abstrakt: Southwest Aceh Regency is located on the west coast of Aceh Province. Due to its nature as coastal area, the locals establish shrimp farm business as one of the main economic activities. However, the process of making shrimp farm or ponds require complicated steps, especially on providing salt water as the main habitat for shrimp. The salt water must not be contaminated by waste often found around the sea surface. In order to study the availability of salt water as a habitat for Whiteleg shrimp, this research was conducted by observing the aquifer layer, along with its type and discharge. The identification of this aquifer layer is carried out by applying the 2D resistivity method, Wenner-Schlumberger configuration with four survey lines. The result of resistivity cross section displays the thickness of the aquifer, the type of aquifer and the carrier layer. Based on the field measurement data, the salt water discharge was calculated using Darcy's Law. The cross section shows that in line 1 there is an aquifer at a depth of 10-35 m with a resistivity value of 0-5 m. Line 2 aquifers are located at a depth of 10-39 m with a resistivity value of 0-5 m. In general, the aquifer is located at a depth of 10-39 m and has thickness of 29 m. The carrier layer is categorized as a sand layer with a confined aquifer type. Based on the calculation, it was found that the salt water discharge was 13.6 liters/second. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
