Bentonite is one of Aceh Province's abundant and environmentally friendly natural mineral resources, and it is used for Cd (II) ion adsorption and optimization using the Box Bentonite Design and Response Surface Methodology. The study using the bath method in aqueous solution used three process parameters, namely bentonite mass (1-2 g), adsorption time (30–200 min), and initial concentration of Cd (II) (100–500 mg/l), while the response variable was Cd (II) removal. The results, based on ANOVA, showed the influence of the three variables individually and their interaction were very significant, with a p-value of 0.05. The mathematical model shows an accurate R2 correlation value (R2=0.93). Optimum conditions were obtained: bentonite mass of 2 g, adsorption time of 126.7 minutes, initial concentration of Cd (II) ions of 500 mg/l, removal of Cd (II) ions of 220.447 mg/l, and desirability of 0.84.
