The authors explore the evolving landscape of digitized newspapers in historical research, focusing on the challenges and opportunities they present, particularly in the context of postcolonial and Global South perspectives. They analyze the case of the Al-Ahram Digital Archive as an example of how digital infrastructures can impact historical research, highlighting issues such as access, copyright restrictions, and limitations in computational analysis. Despite the potential of digitized newspapers for advancing decolonization histories, the authors argue for greater accessibility and support for experimental digital historical research to fully leverage these valuable resources. |
