Abstrakt: This article reports the first association of a strain called 'Candidatus Phytoplasma aurantifolia' (16SrII-D) with little leaf and witches' broom symptoms in horse gram, a pulse crop grown in southern India. The presence of the phytoplasma was confirmed through DNA analysis and sequencing. The phytoplasma strain identified in horse gram is closely related to the 16SrII-D subgroup of 'Ca. P. aurantifolia'. This finding highlights the need for surveillance and monitoring of plants in the Fabaceae family to prevent potential disease outbreaks and calls for further epidemiological studies in areas growing horse gram.
