Abstrakt: This article reports the discovery of two viruses infecting sugarcane in Côte d'Ivoire. One of the viruses, Sugarcane bacilliform Guadeloupe A virus (SCBGAV), was found for the first time in Côte d'Ivoire and in Africa. The other virus, named Sugarcane bacilliform Côte d'Ivoire virus (SCBCIV), is a novel badnavirus species also present in China. The prevalence and diversity of these viruses were analyzed in 106 samples collected from sugarcane production sites in Côte d'Ivoire, with SCBGAV being more prevalent than SCBCIV. Further studies are needed to understand the impact of these viruses on sugarcane in Côte d'Ivoire. [Extracted from the article]
