Representatives of the Romanian nobility, forgotten until recently, today open their old chests with documents and photographs to remind us of the people who used to be the intellectual and cultural elite in different localities of Romania. They were ennobled by the Transylvanian or Habsburg princes in past centuries and played an essential role in the cultural, educational, spiritual and political life of the country at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Historical sources contain fascinating information about the "world of the nobility", which was hidden under a veil of silence during communist times. The Alb de Boroşeni (of Borosjenő) family was granted nobility by the Transylvanian Prince George II Rákóczi on August 6, 1649 for special military merits. Historiographical records mention Ladislau Fejér (Alb), who stood out for his valiant deeds. Over time, his descendants settled in different places in the former counties of Arad, Bihor or Hunedoara. For centuries, even in the most difficult times, they sacredly kept family memorabilia and documents confirming their social status. The heritage that they passed on to their descendants is indisputable evidence that "the strength of family relations, traditions and morality" preserves the continuity of Romanian cultural and spiritual values that is not subject to time. This heritage determines the spiritual and moral guidelines in the life of modern Arad. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
