A recent study conducted by the University of Missouri examined the barriers faced by clinicians in addressing pediatric and adolescent obesity. The study found that clinicians face challenges such as time constraints and a lack of effective electronic health record (EHR) tools. Surveyed clinicians reported that they were able to provide health behavior counseling, but felt that the current healthcare system and EHR tools did not adequately support pediatric weight management. The study suggests that involving clinicians in the development and testing of EHR weight management tools could help address these barriers and improve the efficiency of EHR use.
