A recent study conducted at Necker Hospital for Sick Children in Paris, France, has found that patients with biallelic STRC gene deletions may be at risk for recurrent benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). The study included 64 patients with mild to moderate hearing loss, and the prevalence of BPPV was found to be 39%. The researchers emphasize the importance of informing patients and families about this potential risk in order to provide appropriate management. This research provides valuable insights into the relationship between STRC gene deletions and vestibular function. [Extracted from the article] |
