A study conducted by researchers at the University of Tehran has found that the consumption of non-antibacterial drugs may have a negative impact on the colonization of Helicobacter pylori in the stomach. The study examined the susceptibility of H. pylori isolates to 19 non-antibacterials and 4 antibiotics using the agar dilution method. The results showed that most non-antibacterials inhibited H. pylori isolates similar to antibiotics, but their minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were higher. The researchers suggest that at low plasma concentrations, non-antimicrobials may act as weak antibacterials, antibiotic adjuvants, and immunostimulators. [Extracted from the article] |
