Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at Washington University School of Medicine examined the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity (COST) among individuals with multiple myeloma. The study collected COST scores from 72 patients at two different time points and conducted interviews with a subset of 12 patients who reported significant changes in scores. The findings revealed that only 13% of the sample had the same COST scores at both assessments, with 38% showing improvement and 50% showing worsening scores. Changes in out-of-pocket medical costs were the most commonly reported, followed by changes in nonmedical expenses and subjective financial distress. The researchers concluded that further research is needed to better understand changes in COST scores over time. [Extracted from the article] |
