A recent study conducted at the People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Nanning, China, explored the association between diabetic retinopathy-related homeostatic dysregulation (DRHD) and mortality in individuals with type 2 diabetes. The study identified 14 biomarkers associated with DR and constructed the DRHD value as a measure of homeostatic dysregulation. The results showed that higher DRHD values were associated with increased mortality from all causes, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes-specific causes. The study also developed a web-based calculator for the DRHD value to enhance accessibility and usability. Overall, the study suggests that DRHD values have potential as a prognostic indicator for retinopathy and mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes. [Extracted from the article] |
