Abstrakt: A recent report from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo highlights new research on gram-negative bacteria. The study found that drugs that induce the SOS response in these bacteria trigger the release of nucleic acids, including DNA, RNA, and protein. Additionally, these drugs also stimulate the formation of biofilms, which contain DNA. The researchers also discovered that inhibitors of the SOS response can block the release of DNA. This understanding of the SOS response's role in biofilm formation and antibiotic resistance could lead to the development of new treatment strategies. [Extracted from the article]
