Lithology, conodonts, radiolarians, and foraminifera from the Lower Tournaisian Zolotoozerskaya Formation of the Melekesskaya-1 Borehole, in the Volga–Ural Basin are studied. Five lithological units were recognized, and the deposits were described bed-by-bed. Three biostratigraphic units with conodonts were recognized: the Beds with Siphonodella sulcata, Beds with Siphonodella duplicata and Beds with Siphonodella obsoleta–"Dinodus" sp., tentatively correlated with the Siphonodella sulcata, Siphonodella duplicata, and Siphonodella belkai conodont zones. Two foraminiferal assemblages were identified and correlated with the Tournayellina pseudobeata–remnant Quasiendothyra and Earlandia minima zones. Two successive ecozones of radiolarians are established: Provisocyntra kononovae and Spongentactinia oraia. For the first time, two transgressive second order cyclites have been identified in the sediments of the Zolotoozerskaya Formation. Lithology and inversion of the dominant radiolarian morphotypes suggest an environmental change: from relatively deeper-water to shallower-water habitats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
