A study conducted at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, explored the relationship between adherence to posttreatment surveillance guidelines and the detection of recurrent uterine cancer. The study analyzed data from 60 patients with recurrent uterine cancer who had undergone surveillance visits with a gynecologic oncologist between 2011 and 2020. The findings revealed that patients who adhered to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines were diagnosed with recurrence on average 11 months earlier than those who did not adhere to the guidelines. Adherence to NCCN guidelines was found to be an independent predictor of time to recurrence. The study concluded that adherence to posttreatment surveillance guidelines for uterine cancer is associated with an earlier diagnosis of recurrence. [Extracted from the article] |
