Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Baghdad explored the potential of green synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) as an anti-biofilm agent against Proteus mirabilis, a common cause of catheter-associated urinary tract infections. The nanoparticles were synthesized from cell-free extract of P. mirabilis and characterized using various techniques. The study found that the zinc nanoparticles exhibited a remarkable biofilm inhibitory effect on multidrug-resistant strains of P. mirabilis. Additionally, the nanoparticles downregulated the expression of LuxS, a gene associated with biofilm formation. This research suggests that zinc oxide nanoparticles could be used as a concentration-dependent anti-bacterial agent. [Extracted from the article]
