A recent study conducted at the Tulane National Primate Research Center evaluated the effectiveness of MVA-based vaccines in protecting against the eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) in cynomolgus macaques. The macaques were vaccinated with two doses of the MVA-BN-EEEV or MVA-BN-WEV vaccine and developed robust levels of neutralizing antibodies to EEEV. The vaccines provided robust protection, with a high survival rate and complete protection from viremia and central nervous system damage. The study concludes that both vaccines are effective in eliciting an immune response that protects against aerosolized EEEV-induced disease. [Extracted from the article] |
