A recent report from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Chennai, India, discusses the findings of a study on tissue engineering. The study focused on the response of macrophages to a collagen-chitosan scaffold blended with Aloe vera. The researchers conducted various experimental studies to assess the cytocompatibility, morphology, apoptosis, necrosis, antioxidant level, and activity of pro-inflammatory markers in macrophages cultured on the scaffold. The results showed that the Aloe vera-blended scaffold had promising results, with increased biological properties and less activation of the macrophage response. The researchers concluded that this scaffold could be a better solution for tissue engineering applications. [Extracted from the article] |
