A recent report from researchers at the University of Bremen in Germany discusses the use of numerical simulation to understand mass transport in complex structures. The study focuses on the importance of resolving the complex morphology and considering both convection and diffusion in the simulation. The researchers used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and experimental measurements to analyze gas flow in open-cell foams.
