This article explores the use of color flow Doppler sonography (CFDS) as a non-invasive and cost-effective method for diagnosing thyrotoxicosis, a condition characterized by excessive thyroid hormones. CFDS can be used to differentiate between Graves' disease and thyroiditis by measuring the peak systolic velocity (PSV) of the inferior thyroid artery (ITA). The study found that the PSV of ITA was significantly higher in Graves' disease compared to thyroiditis, making CFDS a valuable tool in assessing the functional status of the thyroid gland. CFDS can be considered when other diagnostic options are not available or contraindicated. [Extracted from the article] |
