This article presents the findings of a cross-sectional study conducted in Urban Bengaluru, India, which examined the use of neck circumference (NC) as an indicator for overweight and obesity. The study focused on adults aged 18-40 years and aimed to determine the correlation between NC, waist circumference (WC), and body mass index (BMI). The results indicated that an NC measurement above certain cutoff points indicated a need for further evaluation to address the risks of obesity-related noncommunicable diseases. The study suggests that NC could be a simple and cost-effective screening tool for identifying overweight and obese individuals, particularly in resource-poor healthcare settings. However, the study acknowledges limitations such as a small sample size and the need for further research to establish proper cutoff points. [Extracted from the article] |
