This article explores the various applications of imidazole in heterocyclic chemistry, particularly its role in organic molecules with pharmacological properties. The authors present a one-pot, four-component protocol for the synthesis of 1,2-diaryl-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazoles using Amberlite IR120(H) as a recyclable catalyst. The method offers advantages such as short reaction times, easy workup, purification, and catalyst recovery procedures. The synthesized compounds were characterized through melting point comparisons and elemental analysis, and their physical properties and NMR spectra are provided. The research was conducted at the Department of Chemistry at D. G. Ruparel College in Mumbai, India. [Extracted from the article] |
