Purpose: The shear wave propagation due to a point source disturbance in a piezo-electro-magnetic medium (PEMM) has been studied analytically by Green's function technique. The composite structure comprises a PEMM layer coated with viscoelastic film, resting over a functionally graded half-space. Methods: The dispersion equation of the shear wave has been derived utilizing Green's function in combination with Fourier transformation. Results: Relating the dependence on complex wavenumber, the complex form of the dispersion equation is obtained to define the phase velocity and attenuation characteristics of shear wave. The impact of various parameters, such as functional grading, viscoelasticity, piezo-electro-magnetic coupling parameter, etc. on the phase velocity and attenuation coefficient has been analyzed through numerical simulations and graphical illustrations. Conclusion: The viscoelastic coating significantly influences the velocity and attenuation of the wave. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
