A recent study conducted in ten cities in India has found an association between blood lead levels (BLL) and cognitive performance and general intelligence in urban school children aged 6-16 years. The study also found that anemia was associated with decreased cognitive performance and intelligence. The researchers recommend efforts to reduce BLL and prevent exposure to lead in school-going children in order to improve cognitive outcomes. The study was conducted by researchers from King George's Medical University in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. [Extracted from the article] |
