Abstrakt: The operation of reversed small bowel segments should be limited to patients with intractable diarrhea. The radiographic appearance does not always correlate with intestinal function in terms of efficiency of absorption. The technic of reversing a small bowel segment without twisting the mesentery is simple and preferable to the conventional methods of constructing antiperistaltic segments. The reversed small bowel segments should be placed at the distal-most location of the remaining small bowel; interposition of antiperistaltic segments in the proximal small bowel may result in a stagnant loop syndrome and accentuate the malabsorption of lipids and fat soluble vitamins.
